Airport Location and the South Austin Journey
Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) is about a 12-minute drive from Village Motor Inn. If you’re comparing an Austin-Bergstrom International Airport shuttle with other ways to reach South Austin, a direct car journey is one option; public transit is also available, though the airport bus route described here continues to downtown and the University of Texas campus rather than specifying a stop at the motel.
Choose your transport with your final destination in mind. A taxi or rideshare takes you directly to your address, while the bus is useful if its route and connections suit your plans. If you’re building time in the city around your stay, see this South-to-downtown Austin itinerary.

Public Transit Options
CapMetro buses serve AUS. The airport stop is on the lower level, just outside baggage claim, at the neon guitar bus stop. The airport identifies Route 20 as its high-frequency connection and points passengers to CapMetro’s trip planner or app for trip guidance.
Route 20 Manor Road/Riverside
Route 20 starts at the airport and runs seven days a week, every 15–30 minutes. It travels along Riverside Drive to downtown Austin and the University of Texas campus.
CapMetro estimates a 35-minute ride from the airport to downtown. That figure is not a published travel time to every South Austin destination, so check the route and onward connection for your specific stop before setting out.
Route 483 Night Owl Riverside
Route 483 also starts at the airport. It serves Montopolis via Riverside Drive and continues downtown on 6th Street.
CapMetro says the Night Owl service runs after midnight until 4 a.m. If you arrive during those hours, confirm the current service and plan your trip before relying on it.
CapMetro lists a single bus ride at $1.25. Tapping with a phone or credit or debit card caps the daily fare at $2.50 for unlimited rides during a service day.
Rental Cars and Driving
Rental car providers listed at AUS include Advantage, Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, E-Z Rent A Car, FOX, Hertz, National, Payless and Thrifty. The airport’s rental car facility is also part of the rideshare pickup arrangements, so follow airport directions if you’re transferring between these services.
If someone is dropping you off, both upper- and lower-level roadways are open for passenger drop-off. The airport advises drivers to use whichever level has less congestion. For parking, AUS has an Economy Lot and two parking garages; availability, rates and advance reservations are handled through the airport’s parking service.
Allowing for Traffic and Arrival Time
Leave room for the pickup process as well as the drive. After collecting your bags, follow signs to the correct pickup area: arriving taxi and rideshare passengers use the facility area behind the Red Garage, while departing passengers are dropped at the upper-level curb. If you’re taking the bus, head to the lower-level stop outside baggage claim.
Service schedules, fares, pickup arrangements and parking details can change. Check the official site before you go: use CapMetro for bus guidance and Austin-Bergstrom International Airport for ground-transport and parking information.
