What Kind of Show Is Esther’s Follies?

Esther’s Follies is a live comedy and variety show combining political satire, sketch comedy, Vegas-style magic and musical numbers. Founded in 1977, the venue performs at 525 East Sixth Street in Austin.
Each performance runs 90 minutes and includes a short intermission. The venue says there is no minimum age, but cautions that mild swearing and sexually suggestive humor may not suit younger children.
The dress code is casual, and there is no drink minimum. The bar serves freshly popped popcorn and candy; Taqueria Las Chismosas, accessed from the courtyard, offers tacos, burritos, quesadillas and snacks during showtime hours. Food and drinks are allowed inside the theater, though tables are available only in the lobby or courtyard.
